Creación de Adán
I came to know about MarIO (A.I. equipped Mario) few months ago and it left me wondering about evolution of human beings. The neural evolution of our brain and inherited genetically coded knowledge. I was in awe whole night, contemplating about the earlier versions of our program. Step by step, generation after generation organisms kept on learning and redesigning their own-self. With every second passed I was struggling to confine my thoughts to just ignore rest of our complex structure but remain focused on development of our neural connections.
There is this simple analogy I use every time to convey the idea: Suppose you are in a new city with a single road connecting two places, all choices you have are two places by traveling through this single road. As time passes by number of both roads and places starts to grow, giving you more options and paths to choose from. After certain time you have infinite possibilities but roads that are used the most will be provided with wide pavement. Our thought process and neural networks has similar growth model but with un-imaginable connectivity which gives illusion of what we call consciousness.
Which brings me to conclude that we are no different than hard-coded if-then-else enclosed in a loop. Struggling all our life to give weights to choices which can help us nourish, flourish and survive. The more the models get complex our reptilian core mind developed to comprehend more complex functions, such as feelings, dreaming and desiring. The list of all choices and paths we took are hard-coded in our DNA and like a black box it stores information that we can pass to our next generations.
With every generation passed we were more balanced and more strong to survive the next level in this holy game. We outreached ourselves and tried hard to become immortal but never can deny our cellular existence. Which brought us to the stage where we can be the Creator. Like Michael Angelo drew the “Creation of Adam” may be he wasn’t even thinking of some heavenly being but Humans trying to out reach a new life form. A new Adam.
We are not really far away from creating our first Adam, may be a decade or two. A new life form which will have all the following characteristics :
- Homeostasis
- Order from Chaos
- Reproduction
- Metabolism
- Heredity
- Adaption via Evolution
- Responsiveness
A complete new life form which won’t be decaying and aging. A life form which has capability to reprogram itself and build infinite neural connections like us. A form which can imagine, innovate and invent. A form which has reptilian brain to survive and ad-hoc which enables it to dream and desire.
This cannot be possible with calculating machines as slow as we have now but Quantum bits and Electron Entanglement will soon bring us to the stage where machines will be able to process infinite about of data in zero time. No one knows but may be this would be the first spark of consciousness in our Adam and we will reach immortality.
